Disclaimer — Not Legal Advice
Claused sells editable legal templates. We are not your lawyer. Using our templates does not create an attorney–client relationship. For anything that matters, talk to a licensed attorney before you sign.
What Claused is
Claused is a digital product company. We sell downloadable legal templates and related educational materials (“Templates”) to creators, small businesses, and independent operators. Every Template we sell is designed to be a professional-grade starting point for common business and creative situations — not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney.
What Claused is not
Claused is not a law firm. Claused does not provide legal advice, legal opinions, legal representation, or legal services of any kind. No attorney–client relationship is formed by your purchase or use of our Templates, by your visit to this website, or by any communication with Claused.
Nothing on this website, in our Templates, in our emails, or in our social media content constitutes legal advice. Content is educational and general in nature.
Why you still need a lawyer sometimes
Our Templates are drafted to be broadly useful, but they cannot account for the specific facts of your situation, the laws of every jurisdiction, or the unique terms of every deal. Laws differ by state and country. Tax and regulatory rules change. What is standard in one industry may be risky in another.
For any of the following, you should have a licensed attorney review your specific situation before relying on a Template:
- Contracts involving more than a few thousand dollars
- Deals with unusual structures (joint ventures, equity, revenue share, long-term commitments)
- Anything involving real estate, healthcare, financial services, or other regulated industries
- International agreements or cross-border transactions
- Active disputes, threatened litigation, or situations where you have already been contacted by someone else’s lawyer
- Anything involving minors, employment misclassification, or tax-sensitive decisions
No guarantees of outcome
We make no representation or warranty that our Templates will achieve any particular legal outcome for you. Enforceability, validity, and effect depend on many factors outside the text of the document itself — including execution formalities, the other party’s conduct, and the governing law.
Information, not a substitute for judgment
The plain-English explanations, notes, and commentary we include with our Templates are provided for educational purposes only. They describe common concepts and common pitfalls in general terms. They are not instructions tailored to your situation and should not be treated as such.
Your decisions are your responsibility
By purchasing or using a Template, you acknowledge that you are solely responsible for reviewing the Template, filling it in accurately, deciding whether it fits your situation, and determining whether to sign or send it. You accept all risk of using the Template without attorney review.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Claused and its owners, employees, and contractors are not liable for any damages, losses, or claims arising out of or related to your use of the Templates or this website, including without limitation indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total cumulative liability to you will not exceed the amount you paid to Claused in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
If you need a lawyer
Your state bar association maintains a lawyer referral service that can help you find a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction at a range of price points. If cost is a barrier, your state may also have pro bono or reduced-fee programs available through legal aid organizations.
